Stitch Fix July Box

I know I said back in September that I quit Stitch Fix, and I never once second guessed that decision. However, when Stitch Fix emailed me an offer to waive the styling fee and try one more box risk-free, I didn’t think I had anything to lose by giving Stitch Fix one more try.

In an effort to make sure I got at least one item I would like in this box, I updated my style profile and even said I would be willing to try a pair of shoes. I’ve decided I no longer care if nearly every outfit I wear is blue, it’s my favorite color and I think I look pretty good in blue.

First thoughts: I was really surprised when I opened the box. This stylist seemed to actually read what I wanted and thought through my requests. I was excited to try on every single item.

I wore my favorite jeans with the tops and my own camisole. I planned to wear the shoes, Dolce Vita Monica Lizard Criss Cross Slide Sandal, with each outfit, but they didn’t fit quite right and I was afraid I might trip. I erred on the side of safety and just took these photos. They’re really cute and I do plan to see if any local store has something similar.

Verdict: Sent back, begrudgingly.

Opinion: I’ll be honest and say of all the items I’ve sent back this is one I thought about. I didn’t regret sending it back, but I did think about it occasionally and once searched for it online. After seeing it again, I still love the cut and weight and overall style of this item. I just wish it was in a solid color.
Verdict: Sent back.

Verdict: Sent back.

Opinion: I’m sure this pattern looks great on ladies who aren’t as short as I am with my proportions. The material of this dress was comfortable and perfect for summer and for someone a few inches taller.
Verdict: Sent back.

Gilli Kamile Knit Dress.
Item: Gilli Kamile Knit Dress.

Gilli Kamile Knit Dress SuggestionsOpinion: I really like this dress. It’s more of a purple-y navy than a true purple, which I liked. I had to recheck the washing instructions and make sure it was too much like my other favorite blue dress, but I really like the cut and fit of the dress. It was actually made for someone of my height!
Verdict: I will probably end up keeping it (!!!), but will absolutely take the one more day to consider it before completely making up my mind.

Final thoughts: I was pleasantly surprised. I think the people in charge at Stitch Fix have taken the many criticisms to heart and have made some changes. Or I just got lucky. I will probably give one more box a try in the next few months to see if they can get more than one item right in the future. Wish me luck!

Stitch Fix – July Box

I was so excited when I saw that my first Fix arrived this afternoon.

Referral Code:

Naturally, I got it and brought it back to the office where three of the most stylish (and honest!) ladies I know could give me their thoughts.

First thoughts: I said no blue and no crew necks. My closet overflows with blue. In general crew necks don’t flatter me. Two of the three shirts are crew necks and everything in the box was a shade of blue. I also said I was looking for office business casual and my stylist sent distressed jeans. Though the jeans fit like a dream, I really can’t justify $78 for distressed jeans that I can’t wear to the office. Three of the four shirts were super see-through, which is also not appropriate for the office.

Then, I tried everything on. I wore the Kut From the Kloth Kate Distressed Boyfriend Jean in all of the looks. I did not expect the jeans to fit, but they were some of the most comfortable and flattering jeans I’ve ever tried on, despite being a teensy bit too long.
Jean verdict: Debated, but ultimately sent back.

Opinion: I actually already own a very similar shirt. Two in fact – one from my maternity wardrobe and one regular.
Veridict: Sent back.

Look suggestions: Stitch Fix Look Suggestions Opinion: I own three or four versions of this shirt with a different hemline in lighter weights. While I really appreciate that the stylist was really inspired by my Pinterest board and specifically my pin of this shirt, she didn’t read the comments that said: “I actually already own this shirt.” = (
Verdict: Debated, but ultimately sent back, because again I actually already own this shirt.IMG_7198Item: Market & Spruce Austin Polka Dot & Striped Mixed Material Shirt

Opinion: This shirt was practically see through, but with a tank ended up being a lot cuter than I expected. I have a general rule to never wear shirts with pockets on the chest because they tend to emphasize an area I would like to deemphasize. If it didn’t have the pocket, I would have probably kept the shirt. However, one of my stylish coworker did say this looks a lot like a top I could get off the rack at Old Navy, which is true.
Verdict: Debated, but ultimately sent back.  IMG_7195Item: THML White Sanuk Lattice Detail Top

Opinion: I rarely wear tank tops alone. The piping on this just hit me at all the wrong places. I couldn’t take this off fast enough. The length was the only good thing about this shirt.
Verdict: Sent back.

Final thoughts: Part of why I went with StitchFix is because I don’t really have time to shop and because I wanted to get some new items in my wardrobe that people around town won’t also have. Turns out two of my five items arrived in a friend’s May box and she kept them. So at least one other person in my town would have the same items. Actually, one of my stylish coworkers commented that she thought I got her box because nearly all of the items looked better on her than they did on me!

I had high hopes for my first box, but they didn’t materialize. I’ll give Stitch Fix another try and see what they send next time. Want to try Stitch Fix for yourself? You can use my Referral Code and I’ll get $25 toward a future box and you’ll get my gratitude!
