As cat owners know, there’s no guarantee a new bed will actually be used. Sometimes the box it arrived in wins.
So when the Woolygon Felt Cat Cave arrived, I wasn’t sure what our discerning black cat would think.
The answer? Curiosity first, then approval. The catnip might have helped speed the approval along.
From the moment I set it on the floor, our cat circled it, peeked inside, and carefully inspected every inch before deciding it was worthy of investigation. Within minutes, it had become the newest observation post in the living room.
What immediately impressed me was the craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Each Cat Cave is handmade in Nepal by women artisans using 100 percent natural New Zealand wool. Instead of feeling flimsy like some fabric pet beds, the felt is thick, sturdy, and holds its shape while still feeling soft and inviting.
The enclosed design gives cats exactly what many of them naturally seek, a secure place to retreat while still keeping an eye on everything happening around them.
Our cat especially liked lounging inside with his head poking out through the opening where he could watch the room while staying tucked inside.
I also appreciate that the natural wool is breathable, helping regulate temperature throughout the year, and particularly in the warm summer months. It feels substantial without being bulky, and the blue and green color combination adds a modern touch that looks much nicer than many traditional pet beds.

One thing I especially enjoy is that it doesn’t scream “pet bed.” It looks more like a blanket basket or general decor piece, so it fits naturally into our living room instead of looking out of place.
As with any new cat product, every cat will have their own timeline for warming up to it. Ours started with careful inspection before deciding it was a comfortable place to relax, which is pretty typical feline behavior.
