As I said last month, this is the last test for StitchFix. If I kept even one item, I would consider keeping the subscription. If not, I’d cancel. Spoiler alert: I quit.
First thoughts: I was super clear (I thought) about what I wanted. Items that would transition well from late summer to early fall in Missouri (where it’s averaging in the 90s again temperature-wise) and be office appropriate. I wanted pants other than jeans and absolutely under no circumstances did I want another tank top. I think my opinion of what is a good transitional piece (that I don’t already own) and the stylists are very much not the same.
On to the actual pieces.
I wore the Margaret M Emer High Waisted Trouser in all of the looks. First, these pants are normal waisted, not high-waisted. Second, they were cropped to the point they looked way too short, even on me, who is actually short. Third, there was no button, no zipper, nothing. These pants just pulled on. They looked more like polyester leggings than work appropriate pants.
Verdict: Sent back. Super fast.
Item: Brixon Ivy Nielson Lightweight Cotton Cardigan
Look suggestions:
Opinion: Are you noticing a trend? As I said explicitly in my feedback the first time and subsequently, I already own a cardigan that is nearly identical. I think the stylist isn’t reading my feedback at all and isn’t reading the required comments on my Pinterest board. Also, the pants make my feet look huge and I assure size 7 is not Hobbit feet.

Item: RD Style Maureen Twisted Seam Elbow Patch Sweater
Look suggestions:
Opinion: In my initial profile I very explicitly stated no crew necks, so I was pretty surprised to receive this piece. It did not flatter and was way too short in the front. The texture was going for a tweed look and it did not achieve it. The elbow patches hit at odd places on my arms and felt rough. This was not a $64 sweater.

Item: Sweet Romeo Clarence V-Neck Pullover Sweater
Look suggestions:
Opinion: I really wanted to like this sweater because it was very soft and the right length, but the forearms were too small (and I have tiny wrists!) and the v-neck was too scoop neck for me. It was also totally see through. But the color was lovely, more hunter green than teal.
Verdict: Sent Back
Item: RD Style Angus Split Back Mixed Material Sweater
Look suggestions:
Opinion: Cute in theory and if I had not been wearing a black tank you would be able to see the back cut out. Just like with the Sweet Romeo Clarence V-Neck Pullover Sweater, I wanted to like it. I wanted it to be office appropriate and I wanted it to flatter me, but it didn’t. Not to mention, if I’m wearing a long-sleeved sweater at the office with a tank underneath, I probably am going to want the full back of the sweater for warmth.
Verdict: sent back.
Final thoughts: It was a good run. I’m certain these pieces would work for someone who isn’t me and doesn’t have my body shape and size. I can’t imagine I’m that difficult to style, but nothing from this box worked. Or to be clearer, the one thing that DID work (the Brixon Ivy Nielson Lightweight Cotton Cardigan), I already own. Sadly, my certificate for StitchFix is over and all I have to show for it is these blog posts.
